Reply: All gravity recovery methods are highly dependent on particle size and shape. Besides operational variables, such as feed presentation (screen aperture, feed rate, solids/water ratio) and sluicebox design (i.e. length, width, slope, riffle pattern), the gold particle size distribution and shape are inherent factors determining the gold recovery rate. anyone say that equipment recovery is 80%, 90% something is not true. it's all depends. but 90% of placer mining gold wash plant will use sluice boxes rather than jig, concentrator, etc.
Q: Gold trommel vs Gold shaker deck ?
Reply: While the capital equipment cost for trommel and shaker decks of equal diameter/width is similar,trommel screen plants come with the advantage of longer maintenance intervals and slightly lower operating costs for maintenance. The shaker deck design handles higher tonnage throughput and providesthe opportunity for running a primary sluice run in the screen under pan.
